Dorian Yates made a long and winding journey from being in jail to becoming a pro bodybuilder. Yates’ life is an inspiring tale with focus and intensity at the core of it. After retiring from bodybuilding, the 60-year-old opted for alternative practices like yoga and meditation. In the latest Instagram post uploaded by the 6x Mr. Olympia,  he revealed his experience with Ayahuasca at the Soltara Healing Center. The psychoactive brew made with DMT and Harmine is associated with spiritual ceremonies in South America.

The Shadow shared a throwback memory of doing psychedelics. In the caption of the post, he mentioned, “I was able to see through the machine of reality,” while describing his experience. Moreover, he revealed a connection between his psychedelic experience and his colossal back tattoo. 

Psychic visions inspire bodybuilding legend

In the Instagram post, Dorian Yates revealed that he got the huge tattoo that covered his back in 2019. However, the idea of the tattoo came to him when he visited the Soltara Healing Center. The center works to empower people to become fully embodied, often with the use of DMT. Yates administered the brew at the center.

He wrote, “It was inspired by my visions and information received during my ayahuasca experience at @soltarahealingcenter.”  Moreover, in the article, Yates also opened up about the contrasting experience he had when he administered Ayahuasca. He had two different sensations on the two occasions he had the brew.

The first time was terrible, however, the second round gave him an enchanting experience. The 60-year-old wrote, “The first time I took ayahuasca, I had a bad trip. I was vomiting a lot and I remember hearing a voice telling me to “stop poisoning myself! But the second time… WOW! It gave me a new perspective on life.” 

He further wrote, “One of the main takeaways for me was I realized that everything is connected. Everything is one and one is everything.”

After the 6x Mr. Olympia stopped bodybuilding, he turned to yoga and meditation to find peace and contentment. Trying Ayahuasca at the healing center was also a part of the journey.
