Ronnie Coleman is renowned in the bodybuilding industry as one of the sport’s greatest athletes. He won 8 consecutive Mr. Olympia titles in his lifetime, a record that has never been broken. Additionally, he gained global popularity early in his career, thanks to his near-perfect physique and monstrous muscle mass.

In a video posted by the athlete on his YouTube channel, he was seen speaking to Jay Leno about his journey after securing his third Mr. Olympia championship title. In the 2001 episode of the Tonight Show, Ronnie had an apt reply ready for the host, when the latter tried to mess with him.

In the interview, the host jokingly asked the athlete, “So how did it start? Were you a 98 lbs weakling?” Ronnie was quick to counter with, “I was a 98-pound weakling when I was about 5 years old!” The audience burst out in laughter. He added, “I’ve come a long way since then though.”

 

Furthermore, Coleman stated, “I started working out when I was 12 years old. I got kinda big and joined the police force in 1990.” Upon being asked how many hours the bodybuilding legend worked out in a day, he said “about 45 minutes a day…I’m what they call a genetic freak”

Ronnie faced dire consequences for his heavyweight training routine

Ronnie Coleman is still a highly influential voice in the industry today. Later on, Coleman was found to have a herniated disk. Years passed as the bodybuilder worked out despite dislocating his disk. The 58-year-old Coleman has had 13 spine operations. In his career, Ronnie Coleman won 26 IFBB championships. Because of this, he is unquestionably one of the greatest of the sport. But even so, the price of his regular, intense workouts was expensive.
