The exercise Frank Zane referred to was hyperextensions. Hyperextensions not only help to make the back more stable and lessen the risk of an injury. Talking about how it was his favorite exercise, Zane performed this exercise in his gym in addition to providing valuable suggestions.

Frank Zane began by doing hyperextensions on a special hyperextensions table. To those who didn’t possess this table, Zane suggested they “use a high table.” The Chemist demonstrated this exercise along with a detailed narration. His method was, “Anchor your feet, get positioned, stretch all way down, back up.” Further, he gave fans the advice to do 10-12 reps.

After this, Zane told his fans to do leg-up stretches, beginning with the right leg. His technique was to hold the right leg for a count of 15, release it and do the same exercise on the other leg. He also recommended, “Do this every day at the end of your leg workout or end of your back workout or both days.”

He revealed, “The secret is to make lighter weights feel heavier.” With this, he also explained how stretching between sets could prove beneficial while doing a workout. Opposing the use of heavy weights, Zane recounted how he was negatively impacted by using heavy weights. The Chemist also opined that people gave more attention to lifting heavy weights instead of focusing on the body.
