Bodybuilding icon Phil Heath is the only bodybuilder after Ronnie Coleman to win the Mr. Olympia seven times in a row. While Heath didn’t equal Coleman’s eight-wins record, he equaled Arnold Schwarzenegger‘s record and surpassed Dorian Yates. One of the reasons why Heath became so successful was his unwavering focus on setting and working toward achieving goals.
Besides possessing elite genetics, The Gift always focused on working hard and constantly pushing his limits in the gym. Now rumored to return to competitive bodybuilding, Phil Heath shared an inspiring message by martial arts legend Bruce Lee.

Earlier, the former Mr. Olympia shared the video on his Instagram stories. The video posted by the official Instagram handle of the late martial arts legend is from Lee’s seminal work, Enter the Dragon. In the clip, Lee explains the importance of not letting distractions interfere with one’s true ambitions. “A finger pointing away to the moon,” Lee tells his student. However, he says the finger signifies distractions. “Don’t concentrate on the finger or you will miss all that heavenly glory,” explains Lee in the video Heath shared as his Instagram story.
The martial arts icon and revolutionary filmmaker continues to inspire millions with his works and philosophy of life. Even a champion like Phil Heath is no exception. In fact, Phil Heath seemed quite the fan as he shared the video just an hour after the Instagram page posted the video. Throughout his bodybuilding career, the former champion followed a similar philosophy.
Despite the mounting fame with every consecutive title win, Heath kept his eye on the prize. For instance, last year, in an interview with Big Ramy, the bodybuilder explained how he eliminated distractions, envisioned a goal, and worked to achieve it. It’s no wonder Lee’s lesson inspired the champion bodybuilder because he might have set a new goal for his bodybuilding career.
Is bodybuilding legend Phil Heath going to compete again?
After losing his title to the late Shawn Rhoden in 2018, Heath took a break before returning in 2020. While he hasn’t competed since placing 3rd in the 2020 edition of Mr. Olympia, that might soon change. The Gift maintained a near-competition-ready physique throughout 2021 and 2022. In late 2022, a rumor began that Phil Heath’s comeback was imminent.
