Hailed as one of the best bodybuilders of all time, Flex Wheeler is undeniably one of the greatest star of the sport. Fans pay attention when he advises them on what to do and what not to do in the gym. And that goes beyond simply using good form and technique when lifting. The four-time Arnold Classic champion and all-around IFBB legend long back shared his “unwritten laws of the gym you must live by” on Instagram.

Wheeler’s advice closely follows the pointers mentioned in a Men’s Health study of more than 1,000 gym attendees who pointed out some of the same areas as the most irritating gym behaviors.

Flex Wheeler’s advice for gym goers

The gym can be a chaotic place to be if one does not follow the rules. While some are written, others go unsaid. Having spent most of his years at the gym working out hard, Flex is well aware of the “unwritten gym rules” that one should abide by.

Sharing the do’s and don’ts, Flex took to his Instagram back in 2021 to share his ultimate guide as to how to behave in the gym.

There are many who do not maintain proper hygiene at the gym. Flex strongly disapproves of such behavior; he advised that one should treat the workout space and changing room like they would treat their own home. Imparting the words of wisdom, he wrote, “try not to break things, be careful ending sets, and don’t slam equipment.”

He further added, “wipe things off…no one wants to deal with your sweat.” He also re-emphasizes another vital rule that goes unsaid, and that is “Don’t steal from your gym!. So the next time you are hitting the gym, make sure that you keep the pointers in your head.

Flex Wheeler: A Legend for a reason
