The use of steroids in bodybuilding is one of the biggest arguments surrounding the sport. Although many former bodybuilders have confessed to the use of steroids in bodybuilding, quite a few suggest refraining from their use. Even more so when it concerns young bodybuilding aspirants. Recently, an IFBB Pro bodybuilder, James Graham Hollingshead, shared a piece of advice for young fitness enthusiasts, who may be considering the use of steroids.

Hollingshead uploaded a post on Instagram advocating against the use of steroids. Moreover, the 34-year-old did confess to administering steroids earlier in his career. Looking at his statement, one can assume the dangers of the practice. Here’s what he had to say.

James Hollingshead, on his Instagram, posted five medicinal packets. In addition, he emphasized the meaning and importance of health from his experience in bodybuilding. In the caption of the post, he wrote, “It’s not cool or fun or flashy. It’s seeking longevity. Paying for scans. Doing bloods. Trying to live all the while improving at what we do. The fundamental component of improving is health allowing for it to be the case. I’m not 100% but I try to be and I try my best to uphold that message”. Further, he continued his message with a warning and a piece of advice.

Hollingshead added, “Try not to be reckless. When I was younger I was. I just wanted to win and win big whatever the cost. You get a little older and see the cracks in how we live and look after ourselves. You can only do so much mending of that of which has been done. So, if I have any advice to share. It’s this. As soon as you decide to pursue bodybuilding make sure the first pill you take isn’t D bol! It isn’t Anadrol. It isn’t clenbuterol…”

Just out here doing the best that I personally can for myself and to help others who wish to follow a similar path.” To end his thought, he suggested, “Check on yourself”.

Hollingshead isn’t the only person who has talked against steroids lately. Recently, bodybuilding icon Victor Martinez also warned people to avoid shortcuts and focus on consistency.

He said, “They were just taking them because, one, you didn’t have to work out. You lose the weight, but you are losing the weight because you’re also not eating. It suppresses your appetite.” Gradually, it may also result in an addiction.
