How Lou Ferrigno managed training during The Hulk shoot
Shooting for movies or series is not always amusing. It takes a lot of additional effort, especially when you are playing the role of a superhero while also being a professional bodybuilder.
In a 2019 interview with bodybuilding.com, Ferrigno revealed how hard it was for him to continue training while shooting for “The Hulk” series. “Well it was one of the hardest things I have done because when I had the makeup done it was 4:00 or 5:00 o’clock in the morning and we would film for almost 11 or 12 hours,” said Ferrigno. He further added, “So the biggest adjustment was my training. I either had to train very early in the morning or in the afternoon. Once I was in the makeup I was basically immobilized.”
“The Incredible Hulk” actor also revealed how he had to make several major adjustments to his regular training routine. Ferrigno recalled, “I would train very hard, very intense because I knew that once I was on the screen I wanted the Hulk to look like I was in Mr. Olympia shape and with the conditioning expected of a top-ranked Olympia competitor.”
Although Ferrigno never won a Mr. Olympia title, he yet acquired the status of one of the most legendary bodybuilders.
