Bodybuilding is the sport of channeling strength and aesthetics through fitness. Bodybuilders often work out vigorously to turn their bodies into a complete package. But what they sometimes forget is the risks that come with it. Lifting huge weights can be detrimental and eventually lead to serious consequences. In a recent YouTube video, IFBB veteran Tom Platz displayed his concern about performing deadlifts for a long time.

Deadlifts can hinder the back muscles and tear the tissues, which will cause severe back pain. And if not stopped, it will welcome other problems as well. The Quadfather was quick to grab the attention of his viewers. The 67-year-old veteran explained pushing the bars while working out can be impressive, but going beyond a certain level is only impulsive. Let’s learn from the expert!

Recently, an account named ‘oofafitness’ shared a short video on its YouTube channel featuring Tom Platz. The golden era bodybuilder shared, “…but I think the deadlifts people do, too much risk. I can milk it out of leg curls for ya. I can do staffs that’s less risk, even better results.” In addition, he also shared why he stopped doing the move, “Back in the early 70s, I did deadlifts. After much back problems I said let’s forget about it.”

Platz added, “I think it’s too risky. There’s always the benefit to risk ratio, how much risk, how much benefit. You’re always weighing those two things, no risk? Why even work out?…” But Platz considered the risk and felt that it was not worth it. If one is deadlifting in his 20s, it can cause an injury that will have a prolonged effect throughout his life. He had a meticulous physique and tree-like legs, which in his prime measured over 30 inches. Thus, certainly, The Quadfather is at a place to call him an expert. His advice caught the eye of some fans, and they commented, praising the tip.
