While injuries during workouts are not uncommon, they can still be terrifying at times. For professional bodybuilder Charles Griffen, a regular chest workout recently turned into a nightmare. The moment was captured on camera while Griffen hit the gym with his dumbbells.

The professional took to Instagram to share the scary situation where he meant to do a chest pump using heavy equipment. Before he had the chance to begin his reps, he jolted up and held his chest in pain. After a trip to the hospital and certain tests later, Griffen sat down to talk about what went down.

The moment went by in a flash. Griffen sat down with two heavy-looking dumbbells in his hand, meaning to perform chest pumps. The next step was to lie down while properly picking up the weights and going on with the pumps as usual. However, that’s exactly where things went wrong for the IFBB Pro.

The moment Griffen leaned back to begin, one of his legs shook violently, and he got up in a jerk while holding his chest. Turns out, he did not pick up the weights properly, leading to an injury in his chest. The bodybuilder’s mind spirallyed and he feared a deformity, owing to the pain and discomfort he immediately felt.

The bodybuilder, fortunately, did not need any surgery, and his chest showed no signs of deformities.

Griffen later posted an update on his stories after his entire ordeal. The caption read, “that was a close one”. Working out comes with certain risks associated with them. Griffen admitted that the injury occurred when he lifted the dumbbells from his legs in the wrong way. While it might seem enticing to push oneself beyond limits, injuries can happen at any given time. Previously, Griffen withdrew from the Arnold Classic 2023 after wishing to prioritize his mental and physical health.
