The Terminator star is infamous for going to extreme lengths to ensure that his children had a childhood like any other average American kid. He, and his ex-wife Maria Shriver, believed in maintaining discipline and decorum even at home. Just because they were star kids, didn’t mean they would be exempted from his stern rules. One of these rules was not to bring their phone to the dinner table.
Schwarzenegger had a strict no-phone policy at the dinner table. He firmly believed that kids would indulge in social media at every opportunity instead of looking up to interact. The legend was against this. He wanted his children to talk and engage in conversations with their elders.
“‘When you sit down at this dinner table, we talk. We don’t talk through the iPhone. We talk. For this hour we’re sitting together for dinner. We talk and we hang out together.’ Those are rules I think parents should have.” explained Schwarzenegger. He believed this constituted healthy parenting and helped parents bond with their children.
