“They Compare Me and Contrast”: Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Son Joseph Baena Opens Up on Shadow of His High-Achieving Father

Being Arnold Schwarzenegger’s child could seem like a dream come true. However, it’s not as easy as it looks. Things get undoubtedly contesting in several other facets of life, though. In his lifetime, Arnold Schwarzenegger has scaled incredible heights, from starting from scratch to hitting an unimaginable level of success.

In addition to being a role model and one of the best in bodybuilding, he excels as an action hero and politician. However, his younger son Joseph Baena has been facing tough challenges due to his unusual comparison with his father.

After two compelling performances, the bodybuilder and actor, Joseph Baena, was dismissed from season 31 of the popular DWTS competition. During an interview regarding his journey on the show, he was questioned about his feelings on this matter.

In reply, Baena said, “With having a high-achieving parent, there will always be comparisons because that’s what people know. They don’t know me yet, per se, and so the only thing that they do know is my father. And so that’s how they compare me and contrast so they can figure out what kind of person I am.”

Further, Joseph added, “But the thing with that is that there’s nothing I can really do about that but keep my mind focused, keep doing what makes me happy and keep paving my own way.”

From time to time, Joseph Baena has discussed the strain he once experienced from having to live up to people’s expectations of him as the son of the legend. However, he also described how he has grown stronger following his father’s footsteps over the past year.

Because of his physique, passion for bodybuilding, and acting career, people repeatedly analogize Baena to his father. Many cherish seeing him on television as a more youthful version of Arnold from the 80s. But here, the big question is, does that put him under pressure?

During the show DWTS, Joseph did a Charleston with a “Hercules” theme. Baena was delighted to play the role of his father’s first movie character. He also cherished his discussion with his father about his portrayal of Hercules.

On the other hand, Baena can dance quite well; he showcased his phenomenal dancing skills on the show, which besides being a fitness freak, shows a skill his father is not well known for.
