According to certain concept notes, director James Cameron had thought of The Terminator with another actor in mind. Incidentally, he ended up casting the same actor in another one of his successful franchises. This actor was none other than Lance Henriksen, who went on to play the role of Bishop in Cameron’s Aliens.
The concept art featured Henriksen as the Terminator, with the signature half-metal face and sharp looks. Artist Peter Murphy made the look so realistic that fans of the franchise began accepting the idea of a different version of the movie. In fact, many were still open to the idea of having Henriksen guest-star in one of the sequels.
Fans had a lot of opinions to share. But overall, everyone was open to the idea of having Henriksen as the Terminator, albeit in a different manner. Many pointed out that the actor would’ve looked more like an average person, compared to Schwarzenegger’s gigantic structure. One even mentioned that Henriksen, “would have made a terminator look like regular folk, not super bodybuilding champ.”
Honestly, from a realistic perspective, it fits better. You'd think Skynet would have made a terminator look like regular folk, not super bodybuilding champ.

It would’ve been a very different film. He would’ve blended in with people a lot easier.

Many regretted not having this version of the movie franchise.
Take me to the universe where this happened. https://t.co/0Aqs6aqc5i

And while fans loved Arnie in the movie, they couldn’t help but demand a different version of The Terminator starring Henriksen in the main role.
I wouldn't change The Terminator film we have for anything, but I'd LOVE a glimpse into the alternate timeline where this happened.
And then later Schwarzenegger played Bishop in Aliens. https://t.co/rJLVMw9HPf

The Terminator turned out to be one of the most successful movies of Schwarzenegger. But did you know there was another movie whose success got the actor more returns? Turns out, the former bodybuilder’s highest-grossing movie was Twins, starring him and Danny DeVito, directed by Ivan Reitman. During the negotiations for the movie, Arnie refused payment and instead opted for backend points. The movie was a huge hit and the decision was fruitful.
