The big guys meet at Shaw’s home gym to take up the infamous 225-pound bench for the max reps challenge. Taking a quick analysis of Shaw’s workout area, Oberst immediately set the tone of the session. He remarked hilariously, “If I had my own gym, I’d do everything n**ed.” As the duo indulges in a fun banter, they can soon be seen adding more plates to their bench, working beyond 225 to slow, and continuing with controlled double reps at 405 pounds, they come up with an innovative way to see who goes out first.
Taking the decision after a serious rock-paper-scissors round, Oberst sets to take up the challenge. Sharing again glimpses of the day, earlier today, Shaw posted a video on his official Facebook profile. Posting the throwback video in he wrote in the caption, “Lifting the bench press world record in Planet Fitness.” For those unversed, to win this, the two men are required to lift the weight for the maximum number of reps without stopping.
The test has been designed to test the guys’ endurance and figure out how long they can maintain their power before giving up. It was performed as a more extensive training session in Shaw’s home gym. As the two friends started with the challenge, Oberst took a pause to recall how they had trained heavily the previous day as well. However, neither of the two was in the mood to back down from breaking the NFL star’s record.
Did Oberst and Shaw manage to break the record?
Even though Oberst and Shaw managed to pull off many reps, they, however, could not break NFL Combine record for most reps. The record that they were attempting to break is now also held by Justin Ernest of Eastern Kentucky University. With the said weight, he successfully managed to complete 52 reps.
