Being World’s Strongest Man is no joke. It is the test of the extent of agility, strength and limits a human mind and body can bear. And two of the biggest names in strongman championships, Eddie Hall and Brian Shaw, have passed this endurance tests several times in their career. Recently, the World Strongest Man’s official Instagram page shared a throwback video of ‘The World’s Strongest Man’, 2016, where both these legends had a tough fight.
So what were the results of the deadlift battle and who won the overall Strongman 2016? Moreover, what do the fans have to say about the neck-to-neck battle?
What happened in the 2016 WSM deadlift battle?

Eddie Hall and Brian Shaw are two of the best strongman contenders in deadlifting. In the video resurfaced by SBM WSM on Instagram, we can see their high-intensity determination, and self-belief. The video was captioned, “We like big weights and we cannot lie 😏.” After the Canadian strongman, JF Caron failed to lift 981 lbs, the 6’3″ tall British strongman Eddie Hall entered to lift the same weight. However, he seemed more confident and focused on the lift he was about to make.

Although his legs shivered a bit and his face revealed the power used behind the lift, with all his strength, Hall successfully lifted 981 lbs. But what did the legendary strongman Brian Shaw do after that? Shaw decided to lift the same weight instead of increasing it. And as Hall stood there waiting for the result of Shaw’s lift, the more confident, the more pumped up, Shaw went on to the center and deadlifted 981 lbs to tie with Hall.
At the end of the max weight deadlift event, both Hall and Shaw tied the round with 981 lbs as their best lift and received 9.5 points each for the round. However, in the final result of the WSM 2016, Brian Shaw won the championship with 53 points. Whereas The Mountain, Hafthor Bjornsson, stood as runner-up with 51 points and Eddie Hall stood third with 43 points.
The bodybuilding praised the legendary strongman champions
The legendary American strongman Brian Shaw has four World’s Strongman titles, whereas Eddie Hall has one WSM title. However, Hall also has strongman titles that he won in the UK, England, and Britain as well.Fans could not contain their excitement at the new turn of events in the recent video. They wrote,

Eddie Hall has retired from his strongman career and is now preparing himself to compete in bodybuilding arenas. Whereas, 4x WSM winner, Brian Shaw, has announced his retirement after the 2023 WSM, which will be organized in April. However, the duo keeps reuniting online with their reaction videos and more, which are loved by their fans.
