Arnold Schwarzenegger throws light on eating meat

In ‘The Game Changers,’ a 2019 documentary, the bodybuilding legend talked about the idea of “Steak is for men.” He explained, “They show these commercials—burgers, George Foreman with the grill and epic sandwich.”

This is great, great marketing for the meat industry,” he added. He said that no one can probably relate to it better than him because he has “lived in that world.” He said that the strategy of selling the idea of real men eating meat is marketing and not based on reality.

The Game Changers is a film about vegan athletes produced by Arnold and the Academy Award-winning director James Cameron. Also, the two teamed up in 2016 to encourage people to reduce their meat intake for the sake of the climate.

Arnold suggests some plant-based diet recommendations

In response to a fan’s question on vegan meals, Arnold shared his nightly routine. “Every night I eat a cucumber salad with pumpkin seed oil and a vegetable soup,” he suggested. Also, she shared that pumpkin seed oil is a huge deal in Styria, the state in Austria where he was born. “And it is delicious.

Furthermore, he shared the recipe for his post-workout protein smoothie. It is a combination of fruits and whey protein. He showed the process in a YouTube video – blending cherry juice, banana, plant-based whey protein, and some water. Also, Schwarzenegger shared about giving it a personal touch by adding a special ingredient: “A little schnapps, directly from Austria,” and ends with his epic laugh.

Schwarzenegger clarified he was not convincing people to stop eating meat altogether and added that one has to start slowly. Moreover, he called it “a big challenge.” He appealed to people that it’s every individual’s responsibility to work towards reducing global warming.

Reportedly, some estimates reveal that livestock farming contributes to nearly 28 percent of global greenhouse gases. Also, livestock industries account for more than half of global emissions.
