They say that age is just a number. While the veracity of this adage might be questioned by many, some people are living proof that age is, in fact, just a number. One that is not going to stop them no matter what. Robby Robinson, a former pro bodybuilder and a frequent gym partner for Mike O’Hearn, is living proof of the same.

Robby Robinson, popularly known as The Black Prince, won various IFBB titles in his time. Some of these are Mr. America, Mr. Universe, IFBB Mr. World, and Mr. Olympia Masters Over 50. What’s an even bigger achievement is that Robinson has maintained that physique to this date, when he’s 76 going on 77. In a recent video, The Black Prince revealed a harsh truth about bodybuilding.

O’Hearn and Robinson are constant gym buddies. They encourage each other through the thousands of workouts they have done together. It is not uncommon to see Mike O’Hearn put videos on YouTube of him working out with The Black Prince. Not long ago, O’Hearn and Robinson did a grueling arm workout together.

Robinson, even at 76, was able to keep up with O’Hearn, which is a testament to the amount of effort Robinson puts in to be fit even at this age. Towards the end, Robby Robinson doled some harsh, but useful advice to all the aspiring bodybuilders out there. He said, “You gotta put in the work. If you’re not willing to put in the work… seriously, time to go home. Have a pizza. Sorry guys. No disrespect. It’s a lot of hard work.” Robinson went on to add, “You see how hard he works, how hard we work. That’s what you have to do.”

Mike O’Hearn was also in agreement with this premise. He was also in awe of his older workout partner, and said, “Got to love that. If that doesn’t get you psyched, or that upsets you how he talks… that makes no sense. He’s an artist.” While Robinson’s words might offend some people, to O’Hearn, they are simply inspiring. O’Hearn added, “But that should motivate you. That’s why I work out with him.” It is certainly encouraging to see an older bodybuilder with a banging physique, and Robinson is not the only one.

Besides Robby Robinson, there are some older bodybuilders who still regularly hit the gym, despite their age or maybe because of it. These bodybuilders are constant reminders that it does not matter how old one is, six-pack abs are still a possibility, provided one is willing to put in the requisite work. Louis Ferrigno is one such bodybuilder, who is still killing it at the age of 71. Ferrigno, along with Robinson, also appeared in the documentary ‘Pumping Iron’, which is a docudrama about professional bodybuilding.

Another inspiring older bodybuilder is Frank Zane, a Mr. Olympia legend with one of the best classic physiques of his time. Zane still loves to work out, even at the age of 80. This list would, of course, be incomplete without mentioning the G.O.A.T. of bodybuilding- Arnold Schwarzenegger. At the age of 75, Arnie still works out daily and even lifts weights. These bodybuilders have shattered all stigma surrounding age.
