Sergio Oliva Jr. had made up his mind to follow his father, The Myth‘s footsteps to become a successful bodybuilder. However, a recent tragedy has created a gaping void in the rising star’s career and mental health. In an unfortunate incident, Oliva Jr. was involved in a car accident that led to someone’s death.

While the bodybuilder did not end up with any charges against him, he sat down to talk about the entire ordeal. In a detailed Instagram video, Oliva Jr. recounted the tragedy, how it happened, and why he was in a Dubai jail. Completely shaken by the incident, the athlete opened up about his experience.

How Sergio Oliva Jr. spent his days in detention

The bodybuilder immediately began detailing the night of the accident in Dubai. He was slowly changing lanes while driving when he hit a man riding a bike. Unfortunately, when the man fell on the street, a truck instantly knocked him over. Oliva Jr. witnessed all of this in front of his own eyes and was devastated. Despite timely treatment and admission into the hospital, the man passed away.

The bodybuilder explained how rules regarding road accidents and death were different in Dubai. Whether or not one was guilty, detention in jail was a compulsory occurrence, till the situation was carefully investigated. While Oliva Jr. wasn’t guilty, detention came in anyway. The athlete spent a few days in jail for a crime he didn’t commit, and things did not look up for him.

Although authorities didn’t permit him to speak about his conditions in jail, the bodybuilder did mention his mental state while locked up. Straight out of an episode of Locked Up Abroad, Oliva Jr. exclaimed, “As bad as it all was, my mind was worse. I was going crazy wanting something to do.”

Currently, he’s out of jail and trying to mentally heal from the accident. Oliva Jr. has always tried to reach for what his father, Sergio ‘The Myth’ Oliva achieved. The bodybuilding community has often supported the rising star on his journey. While fans often compare him with his father, he believes that comparison with his previous versions is healthier and more encouraging. The aspiring star has always tried living up to people’s expectations, but for now, his career is on hold till he recovers from this tragedy.
