1989 Arnold Classic winner Rich Gaspari is indeed an important name in the bodybuilding fraternity. Besides being the three-time Mr. Olympia runner-up, Gaspari is the second-richest bodybuilder in the world! Though he retired from competitive powerlifting in 1996, he still engages with updates related to the sport. From being the owner of his supplement brand to engaging in social media platforms, he still hits the gym every day even though he is almost 60.

Rich belongs to the golden era of the sport and competed against legends like Dorian Yates and Ronnie Coleman. The former IFBB professional recently posted a video showing off his normal workout day. It is good to know that he still excels at lifting weights. Let’s take a look at his workouts.

Former bodybuilding legend aces in workouts

Rich Gaspari, 59, is an American professional bodybuilder who came second on the Olympia stage for three years in a row starting in 1986. His ripped and meticulous physique and pumped chest made him a worthy competitor back then. Recently, the IFBB star shared a video on his Instagram doing some lower back and hamstring exercises.

Sharing the methods, Gaspari captioned it, “Really great feel to hit both Lower back and hamstrings with Roman Chairs. Great for hamstring tie-in to your glutes. Keep knees slightly bent lifting up to contract lower back and squeezing hamstrings. Reps of 20 3-4 sets do the trick!”

The bodybuilder seemed to have maintained a jacked body even at this age. Gaspari not only continues to lift weights and do some high-intensity workouts, but he also keeps himself updated with the news related to the sport. His comment on the physique of reigning Mr. O Hadi Choopan called for controversy.

In an interview with Generation Iron Fitness & Bodybuilding Network, Gaspari shared how his approach to training was different from today. He shared, “…today’s bodybuilders, they learn to rest more, you know, where they train body parts once a week but then I’ve heard some bodybuilders training body parts twice a week. I used to train six days a week, twice a day, you know 20 to 30 sets per body part, you know six days a week, doing the body parts twice. A lot of bodybuilders today are not doing that. They give the body more rest.”

In addition, he talked about how his metabolism and incredible genes helped him get a lean body, even though he was not up for doing cardio. Definitely, his maintained physique is the result of his prolonged training and healthy diet. The controlled lifestyle helped the bodybuilder to able to continue hitting up the gym till now.
