“Samson Wasn’t Ripped Enough”: Mr. Olympia Legend Challenges Arnold Classic 2023 Judgement

The reigning Arnold Classic 2023 champion Samson Dauda has stirred a whirlpool of opinions with his glorious win. Legendary bodybuilder Samir Bannout also talked about the results of the second-most prestigious competition, indicating he was dissatisfied with Dauda’s win. In fact, he found two other contestants more deserving of the title.

Recently, Samir Bannout appeared in a candid interview with Old School Labs, discussing the highlights of the Arnold Classic 2023 Men’s Open category. The retired Lebanese bodybuilder also threw light upon the current judging format at the competition that gave an upper hand to Dauda’s victory. 

Here’s what Samson Dauda lacked according to Bannout

Undoubtedly, the Arnold Classic 2023 results were a surprise box. The highest-ranked Olympian, Nick Walker, bagged second place, titled the Franco Columbu Most Muscular Award. On the other hand, Jacked placed third and earned the title, Ed Corney Best Poser Award. Ultimately, it was the black horse of the division, Samson Dauda winning the championship. The 30-year-old displayed great muscle mass and overall balance that made him win.

However, veteran Samir Bannout was puzzled by Dauda receiving the perfect score for his physique. During his latest interview, he revealed that he was not impressed with Samson’s physique quality. Moreover, Bannout found “Nick Walker as the best-conditioned guy on that stage.” He also thought Andrew Jacked “had better quality and a beautiful physique.” During the interview, Bannout stated,  “If it’s based on quality alone, Nick would easily win the show. But the judges right now are paying more attention to overall balance, and Samson had that. I like Andrew, his overall body, he was also cut enough. And Samson wasn’t ripped enough.”

Furthermore, he expressed, “How did Samson get a perfect score if he looked worse in round three? I don’t understand that.”

Before Arnold Classic 2023, Samson Dauda had created massive hype about winning the title. However, since it was going to be his second attempt in the competition this year, veterans bet on Nick Walker. But Dauda proved everyone wrong with his win. Recently, he shared a picture of himself with his trophy expressing his excitement.

Dauda stated after attending the competition last year, he was sure that he would participate in Arnold Classic this year. Moreover, now that he has won the trophy, it has become a dream come true moment for him. The new Arnold Classic champion will take time to let the feeling sink in.
