The 1983 Mr. Olympia, Samir Bannout, recently shared that it makes him sad watching one of the most dominant bodybuilder trouble walking.
Pushing limits caused problems for Ronnie Coleman
Ronnie Coleman won eight consecutive Mr. Olympia titles (1998-2005). Later in 2006, Jay Cutler put an end to his winning streak. Bodybuilding veteran Samir Bannout recently discussed the current health of these two bodybuilding icons. Bannout said, “We have Cutler, who stayed looking young and healthy — and Ronnie [who] is falling to pieces.”
Samir Bannout was unhappy when he saw two former bodybuilders’ health conditions poles apart. On one hand, Jay Cutler looked as young as ever, and Ronnie, on the other hand, struggled to walk at the 2022 Arnold UK.
Bannout further added, “We know he trained like a mad man. We know he was very powerful but, in my opinion, there should have been a boundary where you know, ‘enough is enough, I look good, I won eight Olympia,’ what the hell. Then there’s life afterward. It bothered me. It hurt me to see one of the greatest and not to see him be like Jay,”
Coleman was never concerned about his future while lifting weights
The 58-years-old former bodybuilder never thought about the repercussions his lifting may have. Moreover, Coleman regrets nothing about pushing his limits and lifting all those weights. Ronnie loved to train hard. He just wanted to be the best of his time. And being the best came at a cost. The cost was several surgeries on his back.

John Hansen said, “He loved to train heavy and he never thought ahead of time, he never thought in the future like, ‘what’s this going to do to me?’ That’s what brought him down.” His love for bodybuilding or lifting weights is never-ending. Even after going through more than ten surgeries on his back, he still lifts weight as a routine and never misses out to train.
