How did fitness training after a broken marriage and depression help Ryan Brock turn his life around? In life, when we decide to settle down with our significant other and start a family, we believe that we have finally got our ‘happily ever after.’ We try to give our 200% in that relationship.

This is exactly what the 23-year-old young Ryan Brock did. However, life had unique plans for him.

Ryan Brock and his battle with depression and negative thoughts

Brock stayed committed to his marriage, but along the way, he lost his own identity. To support his wife’s career, who worked in the Air Force, Ryan voluntarily became a stay-at-home dad and take care of their son. However, four years into the marriage and his world turned upside-down up when his wife asked for a divorce.

Reality hit him like a bullet train and the roof came crumbling down. No matter how much Brock tried to persuade her to work it out, she wouldn’t budge. Following the news of the divorce, he slipped into depression and suicidal thoughts. While he wanted to fight to save the marriage, his own negative thoughts started taking over him. He said,But after a while I thought ‘Why would anyone fight for you when you can’t even fight yourself?'”

The entire ordeal had taken a toll on his mental as well as physical health. Aged 27, Brock weighed 244 lbs. On the night of March 25, 2017, Brock begged her wife on a phone call to work it out with him. However, her harsh words crushed the remaining of all his hopes to save his family.

Later, Brock took this incident as his wake-up call in life. With the motivation to bring himself out of his depression and self-loathing zone, Brock started working on himself.

The journey of Brock’s epic transformation

Ryan Brock started rebuilding himself brick by brick. He started off with his diet. While he didn’t switch from normal food to healthy food, he kept a check on the portions he consumed. Doing so, he lost 40 pounds. Brock realized the importance of nutrition and took on the “eat more, move more” approach.

Brock was a swimmer during his high school days and had a black belt in Taekwondo. Even so, his negligence towards himself over the years had caused greater damage to his body and stamina than he had anticipated.

After building some stamina, Brock sought the help of Bodybuilding.com to work with lifting. Eventually, with his patience, dedication, motivation from his friends and family, and a little guidance from Bodybuilding.com, Brock was able to regain his confidence and turn his life around.
