Arnold Schwarzenegger, the Austrian Oak, gained name and fame in the early years of his life. In 1965, when he started serving in the army Schwarzenegger got hooked on bodybuilding. In his teen years in Austria, bodybuilding was not his ideal career path, but he chose to pursue it.

As per law, all Austrian males had to provide one year of service in the army. This made Arnold start working on his body at a very young age. Although to have a profession in bodybuilding, Schwarzenegger escaped from the milliary camp.

Size of Schwarzenegger as compared to others his age

Recently, an unearthed image of the bodybuilding giant surfaced on social media. The image shows him flaunting his biceps, standing in front of an orchestra. Arnold Schwarzenegger, in this image, is 16, and his biceps size is also 16.

For any average teenager at 16, the arms measure around 11.7 inches. Compared to Arnold Schwarzenegger’s 16, that difference comes to be more than four whole inches! As per CriticalBody, the average bicep size of a 19-year-old is 12.8 inches. Arnold’s biceps measured 17 inches when he was 17 and 18 inches when he was 18. This continued till he was 22 years old, in 1969.

Schwarzenegger participated in the Mr. Olympia competition for the first time in 1969, but could not win. He won the title at 23 the next year and was popularly known as the youngest person to win Mr. Olympia. He made 6 consecutive wins at Mr. Olympia from 1970 to 1975.

In 1975, Arnold Schwarzenegger announced his retirement from bodybuilding. He made his name in Hollywood, and his massive physique played a big part in that. In 1980, Arnold Schwarzenegger shocked everyone by unexpectedly dropping his retirement and participating in the Mr. Olympia contest.

Schwarzenegger was to host the 1980 Mr. Olympia, but a few days before the competition, he entered and finally won it! “I think it would be a kind of an interesting challenge to do something in 8 weeks that most of the guys do, preparing a year or two years in advance.” remarked Arnold.
