Chris Bumstead reveals the cons of bodybuilding
It is always a delight to watch the bodybuilders flexing their enormous bodies and muscles. The competition may last for just some hours, and it is just some pictures that go on to become a memorial, but there’s more to the sport. The hard work that goes into getting into the perfect body is too hard even to imagine. It not just demands one’s dedication for years but also takes a toll on the body.
When asked about his views on whether he thinks pro fitness is as healthy or “too extreme of a sport?” Chris had a definitive answer. He quoted, “Pro League, I would say it’s a bit too extreme of a sport to remain healthy.” Speaking his heart out, the bodybuilding champion confessed that “it’s not healthy.”
Adding further, he acknowledged that even other sports have their setbacks and are not healthy. Trying to establish his viewpoint, he cited the example of football and said how the players had the risk of getting injured. He then brought up a correlation with bodybuilding. Trying to explain, he said, “you’re pushing your body to such limits, you’re training so hard, putting so much stress on your joints, bringing your body fat to unhealthy levels for competitions multiple times a year.”

In a competitive sport like bodybuilding, the stakes are very high, and unlike other sports here, one has to take up a lot of physical hardships. Be it the enormous diet plans that they have to follow for the monstrous workout session; it is a daily endeavor that the bodybuilders try to perfect.

He best describes it as “intense.” For one has to perform at a level above most others if one wants to be a professional athlete. In a way, this is extreme, but this is what the competition and sports demand.
