In the US chat show ‘60 minutes’, Arnold Schwarzenegger revealed several unknown stories. Furthermore, he also spoke about the time when his parents thought he was gay.
Arnold Schwarzenegger spoke about his childhood
Talking about his autobiography, ‘Total Recall’ in the show, Arnold spilled a lot of beans on the same. The book covers his whole life since childhood and has several in-depth stories. Arnold had an abusive relationship with his parents, both emotionally and physically. He belonged to a homophobic family, which created several problems in his childhood.
Back in time, Arnold had pictures of men pasted on his walls instead of having pictures of girls like his friends. That alone forced his parents to think that he was gay. His father beat him with a belt, while his mother took him to the doctor.
“He ran after me with a belt and beat me,” said the former bodybuilder. “I don’t know if mum thought I was gay, or if she just thought there was something off. And ‘let’s catch it early,'”
Apart from this, Arnold also gave a clear picture of his father’s violent nature. During the Capitol riot in January 2021, the bodybuilder shared a video where he talked about several things, starting from Nazism to his father’s dominating persona.
Arnold grew up in a very abusive environment. His father often came home drunk and hit him and his mother. The actor’s childhood was indeed horrifying.
One can say success follows if one’s putting in enough effort to reach the peak. Well, that’s what the bodybuilder did. Starting from zero, Arnold Schwarzenegger bagged many achievements and milestones. Although the journey wasn’t all flowers and roses, he made it to the end.
Arnold’s reply to an anti-gay Facebook comment
Arnold’s childhood was not as good as one would have expected. His parents mishandled the situation back then and were not the best. In June 2015, Arnold once changed his Facebook profile picture and added rainbow colors to celebrate pride month. While everyone supported the actor, a guy named Jakub Bielawski wasn’t on the same team.
