Back in 2020, he was asked about his bodybuilding training and diet plan. As expected from a seven-time Mr. Olympia, Heath had a proper plan for everything. The really interesting part was about his bulking diet. Bulking is all about gaining a huge amount of muscle without any extra fat.

Pushing the whole metabolism for bodybuilding

Phil Heath isn’t just focused on lifting weights, he is also into a healthy and proper diet that can help him grab any title he wants. As bulking means gaining, the way Heath bulks will make you bamboozled.

“At the end, this change makes me a living zombie,” Heath said and continued, “Because it is the carbohydrates that give us energy.” That’s really crazy of the seven-time Mr. Olympia. Whenever there is a contest nearby, Heath starts bulking, as any bodybuilder would do. As carbohydrates play an essential role in boosting his muscle mass and making them look visually big. He just digs into food that has more carbohydrates in it.

Out of the eight meals that Heath consumes on a daily basis, four of them have carbohydrates. As insane as it seems, it plays a huge role in bodybuilders maintaining proper muscle mass.

Carbohydrates or carbs are important because they are protein-sparing. This means that the body consumes them rather than using muscle tissue as an energy source.

Reason for being invisible on the big stage

It’s been a long time since Phil Heath has competed on the big stage, as in Mr. Olympia. He hasn’t shown up since 2017, but what has been the reason, and when will he make a return?

Heath, who dominated the whole bodybuilding stage by winning seven consecutive Mr. Olympias, has a huge fanbase awaiting his return. He never announced an official retirement, so there’s still hope for his return, soon or later.
