Ronnie Coleman didn’t develop his enormous frame in a matter of days. To get to the point where he was in his heyday, he worked out a lot, day and night. But he overlooked the price tag attached to the endless hours of training.

Dr. Raynor talks about Coleman’s herniated disc

Dr. Chris Raynor, a renowned orthopedic surgeon, recently shared a video on his YouTube channel where he mentioned Ronnie’s injuries. Raynor talked about a herniated disc and Ronnie Coleman’s mistake that worsened his situation.

A disc can get herniated when the spinal bones get dislocated due to heavy strain or wear out. In Coleman’s case, it occurred because of heavy exercise. Dr. Raynor said, “When this injury occurs, the patient may hear a loud pop followed by severe pain running down the leg“.

How Ronnie Coleman worsened his situation

Dr. Raynor also said that if a person experiences a herniated disc, they should seek medical attention soon. Ronnie Coleman worsened his situation by continuing to work out. He ignored his pain and focused on completing his workout.

In an interview with Muscle and Fitness, Coleman narrated how he dealt with this situation. Coleman said, “There was a loud crunching sound…I heard it, but the athlete in you is like, let’s go on.” Ronnie then went on to squat, do leg presses, and do hex squats.
