Arnold Schwarzenegger has always been known for his competitive nature and excellence in every field he entered. Yet, despite being a champion, he faced several difficulties and obstacles in his career. Some of the challenges made him leave his home nation of Austria and move to the US at the age of 21. 

After coming to America, he crafted his legacy with the golden title of Mr. Olympia. After retiring from bodybuilding, Arnold entered the world of Hollywood, where he did blockbuster movies. However, once scraping all the layers of his success, Arnold revealed the real reason for him leaving Austria.

Arnold Schwarzenegger recalls his dark past in his country

Once during an interview, Schwarzenegger unveiled one of the most significant truths of his past. He revealed how he had a wrecked bonding with his father, Gustav Schwarzenegger, who passed away in 1972. But the time Arnie and his father lived under the same roof was suffocating for him. 

Before stating the facts about his father, he recalled his country, Austria. He said, “You know that you have to struggle from the beginning; otherwise, you wouldn’t be leaving your country. If you had this wonderful, rosy atmosphere, you would not want to leave.”

During his teen years, he understood that America carried the promise of the future he desired. However, he knew how difficult it was to leave everything behind. Schwarzenegger added, “I said, ‘What am I doing here on the farm? Oh, God, I’ve got to move on. How do I move on?’” Even after leaving his country at a young age, the bodybuilder is known as the “Austrian Oak” to this day. 

Unsettled bonding of Arnold with his old man

The great bodybuilder remained unbeaten at Mr. Olympia for six years and displayed incredible consistency throughout his career. He turned 75 this year and continues to work in films. Fans are still interested in learning about events in Arnold’s life because of his lively personality and many accomplishments.

Despite his astonishing popularity, very few people know about his father’s life. Arnold’s mother once mentioned how he sometimes slept in the barn to avoid confrontation with Gustav, back in the day. Being with his father indeed gave him ideas for the correct way of treating a child. Arnold has five kids, who are often spotted with him spending quality time.
