Hollywood’s favorite action superstar, Arnold Schwarzenegger, is all set to make his much-anticipated TV show debut, releasing on 25th May 2023. After his brief hiatus from the entertainment industry, the Austrian returns with yet another action number, FUBAR, on Netflix. Now, as the spy-adventure series is just a few weeks shy of its release date, the bodybuilding legend shares several tidbits about his FUBAR character with his fandom.

The seven-time Mr. Olympia champion sat down with FOX 11 on 28th April and profoundly chatted about his upcoming Netflix series. Nonetheless, he also drew parallels between True Lies’ Harry Tasker and FUBAR’s Luke and underlined the analogy between the storylines of both action-comedy sequences.

In the 1994 action-comedy film, True Lies, the Terminator played the leading role of a secret agent who conceals his identity from his family and close acquaintances, while trouncing villains in order to protect national security. Loosely based on the 1994 hit, the 75-year-old has girded up once again playing the role of a CIA’s secret spy in FUBAR.

In the interview with FOX 11, the Austrian stated, “It’s just action-packed, but also very, very funny, playing this action guy that is such a great CIA agent, but just like ‘True Lies’, when I come home, I’m nobody, I only have trouble at home, with my daughter and with my son and my wife and everyone. Trouble, Trouble…”.

Interestingly, the Terminator also recounted how FUBAR’s producer, David Ellison, approached him with the script and told him about the common ground that the two productions share.

True Lies but on TV

While talking about the analogies that True Lies and FUBAR’s protagonist share, the bodybuilder also recalled how David Ellison came to him and shared the idea behind the TV series storyline. “He came to me and he said, ‘Arnold, I have an idea. I would like you to do ‘True Lies’, but on TV, as an ongoing series”. The bodybuilder conceded it to be “a great idea”, and hence joined the forces with Ellison right away.
