Besides a successful career in bodybuilding, it was the blockbuster movies in the ‘80s that propelled Arnold Schwarzenegger to riches. If there is one thing that all millionaire and billionaire celebrities have in common, it is unquestionably a passion for cars. Also, it’s a satiating sight to watch the style and glamour they flaunt sporting the beefy vehicles. 

Michael Jordan, a multibillionaire, and former NBA legend, unsurprisingly comes to mind when discussing celebrities who relish the possession of an embellished home garage. Some of his elaborate collection of cars include the 2006 Cadillac XLR-V, 2005 Bentley Continental GT, Aston Martin DB7 Volante, and 1996 Mercedes-Benz W140 S600 Coupe. However, in a behemoth meets behemoth scenario, it was Arnold Schwarzenegger, the legendary bodybuilder turned actor who got his hands on the first-ever Hummer H1, the beast of beasts.

Arnold Schwarzenegger encounters the Hummer on the set 

Arnold  always dreamt big. His keen eye for opportunities and exceptional business acumen once came in handy. In 1990, Arnold was on the set shooting for Kindergarten Cop. He witnessed a pack of Humvees as part of an army convoy. Excited to own one, he contacted the company to produce consumer versions.

The Hummer was initially designed strictly for military use. But, it was later released for civilian use on popular demand. Although the company was skeptical about the automobile’s success in the market, it launched it in 1992. AM General’s Hummer H1, the 10,000-pound, 10 mpg ride, was a phenomenal success, especially among celebrities.

However, it is fair only if Arnold, who played a key role in bringing it to the consumer stage, received the first gas Hummer. And there began the ever-lasting tale of Hummer and Arnold.

In 2017, the Governator decided on making his treasured Hummers into an EV variation. Fuel prices were soaring. Also, keeping in mind the effect of carbon emissions on climate change, he teamed up with Kreisel to convert the gas-run Hummer to an EV.

Blessed with innate talent in several subjects without any formal education in them, the Terminator actor excelled in every position he held. Schwarzenegger served two terms as the governor of California between 2003 and 2011. He utilized his position to advocate the importance of clear and renewable energy. Moreover, he continues to make a huge influence to promote climate change related policies even after leaving office.
