A few months ago, Chief Olympia Officer, Dan Solomon answered the ‘tough question’ during an interview with Terrick El Guindy. In the show, telecasted via Olympia TV’s YouTube channel, the interviewer had inquired about Solomon’s favourite bodybuilder. The answer was quite surprising, not one that the audience would’ve easily guessed. Solomon however introduced his answer by informing that it wasn’t really a tough question for him, having been in the heart of the industry for as long, and revealed that the bodybuilder was none other than four-time Mr. Olympia Jay Cutler.

When it comes to bodybuilding, Jay Cutler needs no introduction. The four-time Mr. Olympia and three-time Arnold Classic title champion has been an inspiration to aspiring bodybuilders. Solomon picking Cutler over Arnold Schwarzenegger was astonishing, but he did have a point to it.

His favorite bodybuilder of all time

Both Arnold Schwarzenegger and Jay Cutler have undoubtedly been great sources of inspiration for the newer generation of bodybuilders, however Dan Solomon standing at the centre of a $200 billion fitness industry, leaned towards the latter when it came to picking his favourite.

“You’re going to be surprised by the answer,” Solomon said and continued, “It’s not Arnold [Schwarzenegger] and it’s not Arnold because Arnold was an inspiration to prior generations.” Solomon looked over the Austrian Oak, as he believed that Schwarzenegger was a source of inspiration but for the older generations.

“If you were to survey, and I ask these questions all the time, if you were to survey hundreds of current male bodybuilders and you were to ask them which bodybuilder inspired you to compete and get involved in bodybuilding, there is no answer you would hear more often than the name Jay Cutler,” Solomon said.

In Solomon’s understanding, Jay Cutler has been the fuel for the new generation’s aspiring bodybuilders. His competitiveness has the audiences and aspirants capitative more than any other bodybuilder.

Cutler in his heydays

The bodybuilding icon Jay Cutler announced his retirement in 2013. It’s been nine years since he left professional bodybuilding.

Cutler’s glory began taking shape after he defeated the eight-time Mr. Olympia, Ronnie Coleman. He broke Coleman’s winning streak, and he was ready for his ninth consecutive Mr. Olympia. Since then, Cutler didn’t stop and got four Mr. Olympias, which were in the years 2006, 2007, 2009, and 2010. He is also a six-time runner-up on this big stage.
