The athletic world of bodybuilding is famous for its well-built structures and laborious physiques. Frank Zane was among the most prominent bodybuilders in his prime. The 3-time Mr. Olympia winner had a well-balanced and symmetrical physique that eventually led him to get the nickname, The King of Aesthetics. Despite not being the best in his era, anyone could hardly compete with Zane’s posing routine. Lately, the fitness pro shared wisdom on his social media, talking about the important facts a bodybuilder might adhere to.
Though the former IFBB professional retired from the sport in 1983, he still advocates any issues related to bodybuilding. Let’s see what he opined recently.

Apart from getting his triumph on the Olympia stage, Zane also bagged the titles of Mr. America, Mr. Universe, and Mr. World. This 80-year-old veteran is still going strong following his own mantra of fitness. Recently, Zane shared a picture of him on his Instagram account, along with some thoughts. He was concerned that not many in the bodybuilding fraternity are actually aware of what symmetry exactly means. For them, he summarized it in a simple way. He said, “People don’t really know what certain things mean. For example, round one is called the symmetry round. Nobody really knows what symmetry means. Symmetry just means that your left and your right side are the same.” Evidently, he seemed concerned about the balance a body should have, to successfully exhibit the strength and aesthetics that the sport needs.

As a follower of a balanced diet and controlled lifestyle, The Chemist always measured his food with proper supplements. Just a few days ago he posted a picture and wrote, “I always ate a restricted carbohydrate diet. I would keep my carbohydrate intake lower than my protein intake.” Evidently, according to him, symmetry is the key to success, not only in bodybuilding but also in life. During his era in the sport, Zane focussed on his workouts, diets, posing, presentation, and motivational and energy conservation techniques, that today’s bodybuilders lack.

Zane’s view on today’s bodybuilding
Though it’s been nearly 40 years since his retirement, Zane still works out in the gym and is in great shape and health. He still keeps himself updated about the new age bodybuilding. However, in an interview with bodybuilding.com in 2019, when an interviewer asked him about the sport today, he didn’t seem very flattered. Zane stated, “But I don’t prefer the way they look. I don’t think that it has helped bodybuilding. Bodybuilding hasn’t become any more popular. It has just gotten tagged with the steroid image, that’s all. You look at bodybuilding today and you say, ‘steroids.’ It’s automatic.”
