The legendary bodybuilder, Lee Haney, has been an eight-time Mr Olympia champion, beating Arnold Schwarzenegger. He is one of the greatest bodybuilders of all time, standing at par with Ronnie Coleman. Recently, Haney shared his thoughts on this year’s Mr Olympia Men’s division.

Haney, who has won the coveted title several times talked about the championship in an interview, along with some advice for the contenders.
Thoughts of Lee Haney on the competitors
He discussed the upcoming Mr Olympia title, where he shared his thoughts on the current competitors and reigning champions.
Speaking about the top two contestants, Big Ramy, and Brandon Curry, Haney confessed that he rooted for Curry, “I like Brandon Curry. I like the way he tapers and so forth. I would like to see a little bit more muscle separation.”
Top competitor Big Ramy is a noteworthy champion. He reigned as a winner twice and his physique is often talked about. Haney mentioned that in order to beat Big Ramy, Curry would have to bring in more muscle separation and up the quality. According to him, “You gotta hit them with a sledgehammer. That’s the only way you’re going to dethrone him.”
Haney also spoke about how the focus of bodybuilding shifted towards increasing body size. The legend believes that beauty lies in the details. That being said, no other competitor came close to outsizing champion, Big Ramy.
Haney’s views on the coveted title
The legendary bodybuilder made headlines, when he broke the long standing record of Arnold Schwarzenegger, to claim his 8th Mr Olympia title. He cherished those memories by talking about the title and the creator of the contest, Joe Weider.
Haney always respected Joe’s passion for bodybuilding. He recalled how Joe’s zeal for the competition transformed its image. Despite differences in their opinions, the star was quite close to Joe.

While Mr Olympia is still a reputed title, Haney strongly believed that the spark has faded, since Joe left.
According to him, the title became a bit too commercialized. The focus has shifted in terms of judgement and he feels that the title won’t go back to what it used to be.

Despite this, it seems that this year’s title looks extremely promising for Big Ramy, and Brandon Curry. Both competitors hold immense potential and it will be exciting to see how the contest unfolds.
