At times in life, some people encounter life-changing unfortunate situations. More often than not these situations leave a lasting negative impact on the victims, pushing their lives in a downward spiral. Such was the case with the IFBB Pro bodybuilder, Nick Walker. The life of a young athletic and bright scholarly student took a turn for the worse when Walker was merely 12 years old. It was after he encountered a traumatic situation at that age.

In 2021, Nick Walker appeared on a podcast with Dennis James. Here, the bodybuilder revealed how he found his way into the bodybuilding world. During this chat, Walker opened up about a traumatic experience he went through as a child which led him off the track for some time. But it was bodybuilding and training that helped him find his way back on the rightful path.

Nick Walker opens up about the past

In June 2021, Nick ‘The Mutant’ Walker appeared on James’ “The Menace Podcast.” The two bodybuilders discussed the various aspects of the 2022 Mr. Olympia’s first runner-up’s life. This included his achievements, background, and experiences. Talking about his childhood, Walker revealed he was a good student with both academic and sports merits. At the time Walker used to play baseball and soccer for the most part.

However, that changed before he entered his teenage. Walker revealed, “When I was 12 years old I went through a little tragic experience for myself. I got molested as a child and that pretty much changed, you know, my way of life for a very long time.” Talking about how the incident affected his life, Walker admitted resorting to drugs and alcohol to escape reality.

Gradually, this led to him drifting away from sports. It wasn’t until he turned 13 that he found a way to turn his life around, for the better this time. Walker started training as a way to take out his anger. The Mutant admitted that the more he trained the less he wanted to play sports.

Finding solace in training

After finding a way to let out his frustration through training, Walker preferred staying alone throughout high school. It was around his senior year he joined a gym named “Extreme Fitness.”

The “awesome people” Walker met at the gym encouraged him to compete in the bodybuilding competitions. Paying heed to their advice, Walker trained for his remaining school days. He picked his first show right after graduation. Though the first show wasn’t a massive success, Walker did not give up.

The following year, he came in second at the biggest bodybuilding tournament a.k.a Mr. Olympia. Presently, Walker is gearing up for the upcoming 2023 Arnold Classic. Walker’s story inspires one to not give up even when life throws you into the darkest of pits.
