Chris Bumstead added another Mr. Olympia Classic Physique title to his name on December 18. The Canadian bodybuilding legend has won the premier bodybuilding contest four times in a row now. While competition in the Classic Physique category has intensified, Bumstead remains undeterred. Bumstead has already sent a message to his rivals with an Instagram post.

Before the competition, the four-time champion had hinted at an early retirement. However, after winning this year’s Classic Physique, Chris seemed eager to compete again. For the last three years, Breon Ansley and Terrence Ruffin challenged the reigning champion. However, with the rise of new contenders like Ramon Dino and Urs Kalecinski, CBum will face new challenges.

Chris Bumstead might face his biggest challenge next year

The four-time Mr. Olympia Classic Physique champion posted a picture of himself from the final day of Mr. Olympia 2022. In the image, Chris is hitting a variation of the classic most muscular pose. However, in the caption, the reigning champion sent a message to his rivals. “I found a lot of untapped potential this year. Next year is going to be dangerous,” wrote the bodybuilding legend.

This year, Bumsted changed his formula months before the competition. Bumstead announced he was parting ways with his longtime prep coach, men’s open competitor, and brother-in-law, Iain Valliere. Bumstead’s change worried some experts. The reigning champion joined Hany Rambod just over two months before the competition. Hany also had no experience training a classic physique athlete.

However, this year Bumstead discovered his untapped potential as he stepped on the stage with more muscle than last year. CBum also brought insane conditioning on stage. It seems Bumstead wants his rivals to know that working with Rambod has unlocked his hidden potential, and he will continue to improve. However, next year Brumstead may face his biggest challenge.

CBum will have to be on his toes with the rise of new challengers like Ramon “Dino” Rocha Queiroz and Urs Kalecinski. While Bumstead retained the title, both bodybuilders improved their standing. They are also younger.

In 2021, Ramon Dino placed fifth, while Urs Kalecinski placed fourth. However, both bodybuilders made massive improvements this year. At the 2022 Mr. Olympia, Kalecinski earned the bronze medal. However, Dino made an enormous improvement, moving to second place.

In fact, Dino gave CBum a run for his money at this year’s Mr. Olympia. In a rare move, at the end of pre-judging, the judges called the pair on stage for a head-to-head comparison. While Dino lost, some fans on social media thought he was ahead of Bumstead.
