Ronnie Coleman is one of the very few bodybuilders who mastered the art of bodybuilding with sheer discipline. Having won the prestigious Mr. Olympia title for a record 8 times, surprisingly, Coleman did not want to be a bodybuilder.
Recently, while talking to bodybuilder Samson Dauda, Coleman revealed the same. He also revealed what he wanted to become before acing bodybuilding.

When talking about Mr. Olympia 2022, the bodybuilding competition will take place in less than a week at the Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino in Las Vegas. Bodybuilders from around the world will congregate over here from 15 to 18 December, trying to impress the judges with their incredible physiques. Samson Dauda would be among them – His first at this competition.

When Dauda and Coleman had an online discussion recently, Dauda took several pieces of advice from the veteran bodybuilder. One point of discussion that came up was their choice of alternate careers.
When Ronnie posed the question to Dauda whether he always wanted to be a bodybuilder, Dauda was quick to mention his dream passion. Dauda played Rugby throughout his 20s and wanted to be a Rugby player for England. He only started bodybuilding after he turned 29.

Coleman didn’t hold back on his dreams and passion after listening to Dauda. Ronnie wanted to be an American Football player and play in the NFL. “Never really wanted to be a bodybuilder, but God had other plans,” Coleman said.

However, when the initial plans didn’t work out for both of them, each chose an alternate career in bodybuilding. Both Coleman and Dauda found their calling in this discipline and it turned out to be a wise professional choice for both of them.
Ronnie and Dauda discuss mental aspects and other key tips before the competition
Both of them talked about other facets of life as well and touched upon some important and vital aspects of life. When Ronnie asked Dauda about the sacrifices he made in life to pursue bodybuilding, Dauda didn’t hesitate to answer it. He shared his difficulty in spending more time with family, his struggles in dealing with the mental aspects of the game, and the overall ups and downs in life and sport. Ronnie gave him an acknowledgment of going through all of that himself during his time.

Notably, since Coleman is an 8-time Mr. Olympia champ, every new bodybuilder would be keen to seek his advice before a big competition. So, when Dauda did the same, Coleman’s said, “Go out there and have as much fun as possible”.
Coleman also said, “I got a routine, where I go to the room and eat Pizza”, in reference to what he does after Mr. Olympia is over. This further lightened the mood between the two and one can assume could assume.

Dauda seemed excited for Mr. Olympia to be held in Vegas. He said, “Vegas is where its home,” although he is originally from England. Coleman reciprocated his feelings about the ‘Sin City’ pound for pound. Is Vegas the best city to host the Mr. Olympia title, and will Dauda win his maiden title at his debut competition?
