Ronnie Coleman is a bodybuilding legend. He surprised fans and experts in 1998 when Ronnie beat the favorite Flex Wheeler to win his first Sandow. It was the beginning of a dominant run that lasted eight years. Notably, Ronnie won the Mr. Olympia title eight times in a row. Not to forget that in 2001, he also won the Arnold Classic.

People often discuss the strict diet and grueling training sessions of elite bodybuilders like Ronnie. However, few ever talk about the side effect of putting on excessive amounts of muscle. Stretch marks are one such side effect. Recently, while answering a fan’s question, Ronnie revealed his experience with stretch marks.

Ronnie Coleman revealed why he didn’t get any stretch marks

On October 17, Ronnie uploaded an “Ask me anything” video on his YouTube channel. One fan asked Ronnie, “Mr. Coleman, how did you deal with stretch marks during your years of competitive bodybuilding?”. Ronnie responded, saying it was a good question. However, the eight-time Mr. Olympia’s answer may have surprised many. “I never really got any stretch marks.”, said Coleman.

“My skin is a little different from most people.”, added Ronnie. While Ronnie never had to deal with the common side effect, he knew one remedy that worked well for those having issues with stretch marks. “I did hear that cocoa butter works wonders,” said the “King”.

Ronnie also clarified that he had learned about the remedy from those who faced issues with stretch marks. However, his sources were not fellow bodybuilders. “that’s coming from a few pregnant women that I know.” said the eight-time Mr. Olympia. Ronnie said the women had dealt with stretch marks after giving birth.

Many fans might find it surprising Ronnie never had stretch marks. The eight-time Mr. Olympia often carried more muscle mass than anyone on stage.

Ronnie’s rival once opened up about the same issue:

Flex Wheeler is also an iconic bodybuilder. Many fans believe he is the greatest bodybuilder who never won Mr. Olympia. Wheeler once talked about his experience with stretch marks. Flex said his whole body had stretch marks, and “they were so painful, they were like big worms.” Flex said some of them are still there, although it’s been two decades since his retirement.

However, Unlike Ronnie, Flex didn’t share any remedies for the issue. Neither did he discuss how he dealt with the marks.

Stretch marks occur naturally. However, bodybuilders are prone to the issue because they carry a lot of muscle mass. While Ronnie never dealt with the problem firsthand, he didn’t leave his fan hanging and told him what he knew.

Given Ronnie did not get any stretch marks on his body, do you also believe his body skin is different from other bodybuilding legends?
