“Needs Funding to Sustain Your Needs”: Young Bodybuilder From Philippines Narrated His Inevitable Struggles to Reach Mr. Olympia Stage Earlier This Year

However, among the contenders for the title in the 2022 Mr. Olympia, there will be a new face, or as we can say, a country will be marking its debut in 2022.

Mr. Olympia will be witnessing a contender from the Philippines for the first time in its history. Joven Sagabain became the first professional bodybuilder from the Philippines to compete in Mr. Olympia. Earlier this year, Joven opened up about the unavoidable struggles the people from his land have to face to reach this stage.

Joven Sagabain has accomplished this monumental victory of qualifying for Mr. Olympia this year. Despite all the challenges, he rose above everything to achieve his aim. Joven replied, “The number one issue is the budget of athletes. This career really needs funding to sustain your needs like nutrition, supplements, gym memberships, etc. We also have very limited competition opportunities that can qualify us for Mr. Olympia.”

Bodybuilding is one of the sports that need massive guidance and high requirements to compete and succeed. Whether it be types of equipment, trainer, or an extensive diet, everything has to be managed well. Especially if one needs to compete on a giant level, such as Mr. Olympia.

Joven Sagabain competing in Men’s Physique Olympia 2022

The first-ever Filipino homegrown Olympian will be showing his contention on 17th December. Earlier this year, he won Muscle Contest Philippines Pro Show 2022 to qualify for his maiden appearance on Mr. Olympia’s stage.

Joven looks extremely pumped up and ready for his first show. He has been working extremely hard for this moment. Moreover, his proudest feeling is to represent his country and his goal is “to inspire the younger generation and to keep bringing honor and pride to my country.”
