The ebbs and flows of life have given four-time Arnold Classic champ Flex Wheeler some of the most harrowing experiences. Known for his unmatched body symmetry, The Sultan of Symmetry had to call it quits from competitive bodybuilding following health scares resulting in over 40 surgeries including a right leg amputation in 2019. With constant health updates shared with his online fanbase, it still seems that his pains are far from being over. Yet, amidst the chaos of reality, Wheeler was able to confide in the indomitable spirit of a young girl.

What prompted Wheeler to pursue a career in bodybuilding could be able-bodied near-perfect physiques, the 57-year-old now finds inspiration from a young fighter who has been through a similar experience of limb loss. Here is what the legend shared.

Flex Wheeler found an idol in a young girl

Despite the odds, Wheeler still remains someone who is always eager to help others, spreads positivity, and looks for inspiration in little things. Today, the legend posted a video on his Instagram story. There, a little young girl who is an amputee herself illumed the bodybuilding legend with her sheer determination.

In that video, a young girl named Mikenli Smith was walking with her family. As she made the walk on the sidewalk, her twin sister Mikenzi was also there walking by her side to ensure of her safety. Later, she opened the door for her sister.

Wheeler captioned this video with, “Videos like this is what inspires me and drives me to bring more awareness to people who have suffered limb loss. We need to do more. Help me.” Evidently, the former Arnold Classic winner believed that this kind of video needed encouragement and prayed to his fans and tagged Amputee Coalition to help him to amplify his causes. As he had gone through a similar condition, Wheeler knows the struggles, and as a proud advocate, gave hearty cheers to Mikenli.

Suffering from dyslexia during his childhood made him an easy target for bullies. Later, a rare kidney disease and numerous surgeries affected his career. But the IFBB icon never let those difficulties curb his determination. Thus, he is now on his way let people take a step in his shoes and learn from his experience to achieve long-term fitness.

Notably, the Sultan launched his own fitness coaching website – Flex Wheeler Coaching, to help people achieve their fitness goals with proper guidance. His online classes provide muscle-building training, weight loss, and a healthy lifestyle extra.
