Despite stardom from the father’s side and political lineage factor from the mother’s side, Katherine, the eldest of four children and wife of the Marvel movies star, Chris Pratt, reflects on the gift of privacy the couple ensured for them and her efforts to create a similar secure space for her daughters.

By protecting their children’s privacy, the action star-journalist duo envisioned their kids learning about themselves before the world knows or speaks about them. In that pursuit, they made several adjustments, and Katherine, whose household is a typical replica of her parents, wants to do the same.

In an exclusive with the New York Times, the Gift of Forgiveness author expressed her gratitude and respect for “how much of life my parents kept private..” Furthermore, she said, her parents ensured privacy at all levels possible – their relationship, kids, and “they didn’t take us to red carpets, they didn’t have us parading around in front of everybody.”
The four children have evolved as individuals with a vision and passion. Keeping their privacy intact helped them to discover their true selves, become emotionally strong, and learn to handle the good and not-so-good sides of being one of the most sought-after families in the world.
A lot can happen over a name
Schwarzenegger or Kennedy – when a name becomes a larger-than-life entity, it brings myriad challenges. Shriver’s recent revelations about feeling invisible under the shadow of the Terminator star’s popularity brought to light her struggle with feeling left out.
Similarly, Katherine shared her urge to respond to negativity, especially when people commented about her parents and dear ones. And recounted her mother’s advice to rise beyond the feeling of a need to correct others.
