Accidents can occur even in the most seemingly harmless situations. Former IFBB pro Lee Priest is quite fond of animals and has two large pit bulls weighing around 230 lbs. Unfortunately for the bodybuilder, what started as a regular dog walking session for his two pit bulls, turned harmful quickly.
Sometime in December 2022, Priest suffered a serious tear in his bicep and pecs. But it didn’t happen due to workouts or a fall. Priest was taking his dogs out for a walk when the accident occurred. In a video by Sam’s Fitness – Gym Equipment, he recalled the details of the incident.

It started as a normal walk, where Priest held both of his pit bulls on leashes with one hand. The trio went to the park where another dog owner stood with his pet. Seeing the other dog bark raised concerns, but the owner assured him that his dog was only excited to see other dogs. However, all hell broke loose when he took his excited pet off the leash.
The other dog charged straight toward Priest, resulting in his pets yanking at the leash. Normally, this wouldn’t have resulted in something serious. But the bodybuilder’s dogs weighed around 230 lbs, resulting in a sudden, strong pull. The former IFBB champion immediately felt a sharp pain run through his chest.
Recalling the entire incident in the video, Priest exclaimed, “I was walking the dogs and my dogs are like 230 pounds combined!”. Both pit bulls jerking at their leashes resulted in a pec and bicep tear. After the bodybuilder got himself checked, doctors discovered a 5cm tear that he needed to recover from.
But before Priest chose the relaxing retirement life along with his animals, he was a serious contender for the reigning champion bodybuilder Ronnie Coleman.
Priest v/s Ronnie Coleman
After having won 8 Mr. Olympia titles, fans know how Ronnie Coleman was dethroned by Jay Cutler as the reigning champion. However, in an interview from 2019, Coleman confessed that while Cutler was his biggest onstage rival, he had a much more painful defeat by someone else.

In the interview, Coleman confessed, “My most painful would be losing to Lee Priest”. Priest, who stood at 5’4, defeated the 5’11 beast at the Ironman Championship in 1997, a year before Coleman collected his first Olympia title. King Coleman quoted how the loss was “kind of depressing”. Nevertheless, both bodybuilders established their names in the industry and now bask in the glory of their legacy.
