“My Cheekbones Are Coming Out”: Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Daughter Once Opened Up on Being Daddy’s Girl Yet Called as “Mother’s Twin”

Arnold Schwarzenegger and his ex-wife Maria Shriver were a match made in heaven. The couple disproved naysayers’ and doubters’ assumptions about their choice. Before their divorce, they were happily married for 25 years and raised four kids in a home filled with love, togetherness, and ethics. Katherine Schwarzenegger is the eldest of all. She looks up to her parents on how to raise children.

Katherine is a best-selling author. Being the oldest of all, she was always conscious of being the eldest sibling in the family. While Katherine has a close relationship with her father, she has always been drawn to her mother since childhood. In a 2011 interview, the then-21-year-old opened up on her mommy-daughter relationship.

The Schwarzenegger-Shiver first-born authored her first book, “Rock What You’ve Got,” at the age of 20. Though she hails from an affluent family, she worked hard to get recognized for her achievements rather than her lineage. Regarding her rapport with her parents, she said, “I’ve always been way closer to my mom.”

One can’t deny the similarities she shares with her mother. “People say that I’m her twin. I guess it would be Kennedy genes; my cheekbones are coming out.” Fair to say, Shriver also shares a special bond with Katherine when she stated, “We’ll be at the breakfast table and my mom will look over at me and say, ‘I see them!'” Notably, Katherine considers it a responsibility to help her family with the Special Olympics, an effort by the Shriver family.

Also, she shared she would be constantly in touch with her mom, talking to her about six times a day and e-mailing in between. However, she said, “I’m close to my dad, but they’re totally different kinds of relationships.”

Extremely conscious and understanding of the scenario, Katherine recounted the time she was catapulted to the role of political daughter. In 2003, the then 13-year-old faced enormous pressure that came with the major change from being an actor’s kid to being the governor’s daughter. Not to forget, she was also the oldest in the family.

“You don’t want to do anything stupid,” she said, considering the impact it would have on her parents. However, she did have a good teenage phase–going out, drinking, having a boyfriend in high school, and partying while also dealing with the strict household she was in with curfews.
