A prominent name in bodybuilding, Arnold Schwarzenegger is a force to reckon with. A man of versatile talent, the ex-army man, shares a deep love for boxing. Growing up in a small town in Austria, childhood was not ideal for young Arnold.

But there was one particular thing that he loved as a kid. And that was listening to his favorite boxing superstar over the radio.

Arnold and his love for boxing

Arnold may have found his love in bodybuilding, but the ‘Austrian Oak’ has a special place in his heart for boxing. Growing up boxing in high school, Arnold, as he quotes, was “obsessed with boxing.”  As a young kid, he used to ardently follow great boxers like  Sonny Liston, Muhammad Ali, Floyd Patterson, and Ingemar Johansson.

The apparent time difference between the clocks sometimes made it difficult for Arnold to catch up. Nonetheless, such was his love for the ring that the young champ made every effort to listen to his favorites. Time works mysteriously. The young Arnold never anticipated that the man whom he listened to on the radio, would eventually become his friend. The friendship of Ali and Arnie has traveled over decades. Arnold recalling the initial days, said, “We always ended up in green rooms of TV studios together.”

The two were not just connected by their love for boxing, but also shared the goodwill to help others. For the greater good, the two friends even “auctioned off our watches together.” Undeniably, Ali and Arnold shared a great time together.
