Former bodybuilding icon, Thomas Steven Platz’s robust and lean physique was a wonder to many in the field. He is the uncrowned champion of 1981, Mr. Olympia. He was awarded the nickname, the Golden Eagle, because of his charismatic fame in the golden era. However, Platz concluded his athletic career in 1986 and is now often seen, coaching athletes. By the same token, in an interview on YouTube, the retired athlete once was seen sharing his powerful wisdom. Here’s what he said.

Tom Platz’s notion of hard work and squats

As per the 2022 social media update by Bare Strength, the 67-year-old champ dramatically narrated the value of incorporating squats in their routines. He said, “Nothing’s like squats, I mean there’s a reason people don’t squat. It’s hard! But that’s why it’s so effective. The hardest things are usually effective…”
Furthermore, he continued saying, “if it’s easy, leave it to somebody else.” He also added that the majority of the athletes skip the drill because it is relatively more difficult. Implying that, he said, “Most guys can’t do that. They don’t have the mentality for that. People don’t want what’s hard, they want what’s easy, what looks showy.”

“If you want results, it’s gonna take hard work for years. That is the secret,” he revealed. With melodramatic tunes playing in the background, the Quadfather was seen shoving inspiration into a bodybuilder who failed to lift weights. “You achieved failure… now only place to go from failure is to win,” he exclaimed. Correspondingly, Platz was also critical of the most esteemed bodybuilding events once.
Tom Platz reprehended Mr. Olympia and Arnold Classic standards
As per a previous interview, the American bodybuilder once scrutinized the compromised quality of the bodybuilding industry. He issued a comparison of the present Mr. America show standards to that of the past. Additionally, he also speculated on the highest stages of the powerlifting domain. He said, “Olympia has lost its identity, and that the Arnold Classic has lost its reputation.” Evidently, he conjectured the difference on basis of his long experience.
