Phil Heath, who won the Olympia each year from 2011–2017, wrote, “I actually think the side ab pose should be second compared to it being hit straight on. Your taper is great showing the definition and separation from the arms all the way down through the quads. Hitting it from the side shows more width which isn’t in my opinion what you need in that shot compared to it straight on. Crazy how angles work. Keep fighting brother as many including myself know you’ve got more left in the tank. God Bless you”.

Heath suggested that Bonac’s side abs should be his point of strength and that he should lead with it. The taper, or the V-taper as is idealized in bodybuilding, is named so due to the letter-sized shape every bodybuilder aspires to be. Heath’s praises on Bonac’s taper must have been an inspirational takeaway for the Ghanaian. However, what left Bonac struggling with his abs is a saddening cause, which he shared and is discussed further down in the article.
