It’s been six years since this legend of the bodybuilding world stepped on the stage to show off his incredible physique. But Kai Greene is still not done, as he recently revealed in an interview. After all that he contributed to the world of bodybuilding, Greene still has more to offer. One thing that the bodybuilding world enjoyed immensely during his peak was an intimate rivalry he shared with another bodybuilding legend at the height of his prowess. Years later, Greene still has opinions reserved for the 7xMr. Olympia winner.

In a recent interview for Muscular Development, Kai Greene talked about all things bodybuilding and his possible return to the stage. But the discussion inevitably shifted towards his relationship with Phil Heath, and Greene had an interesting immediate reaction.

“I hate that guy”, said Greene in a rather fun mood. He immediately had a smile on his face, the moment the host brought up Phil Heath. Heath and Greene had a pretty intense rivalry during their competitive days. The two were constantly in each other’s faces every time they stood and posed next to each other. It became so frequent that it was one of the things fans started to expect every time they were on stage together. And they didn’t disappoint.

On Greene’s side, the zeal and the passion was higher to dethrone Heath. Since the latter went on a 7 time-winning streak Mr. Olympia, and Greene was always close, but no dice. Nevertheless, Greene’s achievements were not at all average.

He won the Arnold Classic twice, and other heralded shows like New York Pro. Such were his skills that he is often considered one of the best bodybuilders to never win the Sandow trophy. But as years have passed by, Greene does not have any major issues against Heath. If anything, he looks back on their rivalry as a sweet, romantic love story. His respect for Heath has only increased since.

Greene also said in the interview, “It’s one thing I will not do. I do not take any credit away from that man, the athlete. His accomplishments speak’s for himself. There’s no way I can even rationally think myself to try to discredit that”. It is said that greatness identifies greatness, and no other great witnessed Heath as closely as Greene did. Although Heath’s achievements speak for themselves (7 Mr. Olympia is no joke), any praise from a competitor, let alone an intense rival, is always a badge of honor.
