Arnold Schwarzenegger’s meteoric rise in Hollywood

Arnold Schwarzenegger was once paid more than $20,000 per word in Terminator. His line ‘I’ll be back’ would’ve therefore amounted to $60,000. But it’s all worth it if one were to look at the impact he and his lines made on the fans. The Eraser star, who netted up to $20 million per film during his peak, set the standard for action movies and action heroes in years to follow.

From $2 million for ‘Commando’ to $3.5 million for ‘Predator’ to a big jump of $11 million for ‘Total Recall’ to $12 million for ‘Kindergarten Cop’ and ‘Terminator 2’, Schwarzenegger gave a new meaning to the phrase, ‘grew in leaps and bounds’. Schwarzenegger, who initially believed his accent might be a deterrent to his access in Hollywood, soon became one of the biggest stars in the world. He eventually earned $20 million for ‘Eraser’ in 1996.
