Chris Cormier is a former American bodybuilder, who has competed at IFBB championships and featured in various bodybuilding magazines. He recently sat down with Prime Time Muscle to discuss something pertinent to the upcoming Mr. Olympia title in Vegas. He was against the idea of Chris Bumstead changing his coach just so close to the competitions. Let’s get into what The Real Deal had to say, covering major points such as the challenges he could potentially face in training a champion like Cbum.

Chris Bumstead is a reigning Mr. Olympia Classic Physique champion who won the title back-to-back three times from 2019-2021. The 27-year-old Canadian bodybuilder is in the prime of his youth and is in no mood to slow down. In an attempt to bolster his chances of winning, Cbum took a drastic decision that baffled many former bodybuilding experts. The point of discussion in the bodybuilding world shifted towards that puzzling change.
Cormier states how Chris Bumstead and Hany Rambod might have to work together to retain his title
CBum will be looking to win his 4th title in the absence of his longtime coach Iain Valliere. Valliere has been the man behind most of Chris’ success so far. He parted ways with Bumstead in October, just 2 months prior to Bodybuilding’s most prestigious event. Bumstead joined hands with Hany Rambod right about that time. The Pro Creator has been training athletes for 20+ years to championship titles. He has also earned a reputation as a bodybuilding guru as a result.
Cormier minced no words when he talked about the overall changes that might be brought about and what they might entail. He said, “It’s totally gonna be a different mindset behind the preparations; what he does the morning of, what he fills up with as far as carbohydrates and proteins”. Chris has proven himself many times, and these changes could potentially make or break his career.
Always wondered what Hany Rambod could do with an athlete like Chris Bumstead & guess what, they’re actually working together now. Mad ting!

Cormier further states, “He’s probably going to ask him a lot to see what worked before, what foods he works well with leading up to a show. How fast it burns and how much it stays”. Rambod might have been training athletes to title victories for two decades now, but taking over from an already successful coach to train an even more successful bodybuilder, is no mean feat.
Cbum pushes his boundaries in maintaining his nutrition, constantly checking on his health and he also built his own supplement company. Hany is not building a novice here from scratch. He has to take a new and different approach while keeping Chris’ primary requirements in mind in order to win the Mr. Olympia title.
Training multiple athletes is not an issue for coaches, believes Cormier
Cormier believes training multiple athletes at a time shouldn’t be an issue for a coach. When asked if Hany is putting himself under a lot of pressure by training multiple bodybuilders at the same time, Cormier disagrees. He cites an example from his bodybuilding days to bust the myth. Cormier’s shining moment came at Mr. Olympia 1999 at Mandalay Bay, Vegas.

During the competitions, his coach Chad Nicholls would train multiple bodybuilders at the same time, giving each of them their due time and an equal opportunity to win. It meant Chad had to stay up till late at night, ensuring the bodybuilders went to bed all satisfied.

Coaches are often under a lot of pressure from multiple factions when they take full responsibility for any sports entity. However, a determined and hard-working coach will always put his athletes before himself to make sure they give the best performance. Do you think Hany Rambod will be able to do the same for Chirs Bumstead?
