Chris Bumstead arrived in the bodybuilding world with the IFBB North American Bodybuilding Championships in 2016. Since then, he has never looked back. The Canadian hunk has reigned the Classic Physique category in Mr. Olympia and successfully defended it this time, too. His global presence and contribution to bodybuilding made him a sensation in the sporting world. For this reason, Bumstead made a cameo in docuseries that trace the origin and evolution of ‘playing’.

Bumstead, also known as CBum, featured in a 2-second cameo in a 2022 Netflix docuseries. The series covers the inception of sports or ‘play’ and its evolution into what has now become billions of dollar industry. CBum had this hilarious reaction to his cameo.

Chris Bumstead shared his Instagram story with the caption“LMAO (Laughing My A** Off) APPARENTLY HAVE A 2 SECOND CAMEO ON @NETFLIX”, followed by a ‘crying with tears’ emoji. Although he didn’t share his expressions, he found the prospect of his ‘blink and miss’ cameo hilarious. The four successive times (2018-2022) Olympia Classic Physique winner could’ve definitely had more screen time in the series.

‘Human Playground’ is the name of the Netflix docuseries that explores the origins of sports as explained above. This 2-episode long series aired on 30th September this year and has received mellow reviews (IMDB 6.9). CBum makes his cameo in the 2nd episode titled, ‘An Ancient Ritual’. The episode focuses on human evolution from war games and nomadic hunting to skill, and strength is all fueled by our need for food, survival, and glory.

Bumstead, who also has a huge online presence, is constantly motivated by his diet and his focus on lifestyle and bodybuilding. He serves as a great example as a poster boy for food, glory, and survival. The moment in the episode that CBum shows up, the tagline below (as seen in the Instagram story as well) reads, ‘We play to push our boundaries’. While ‘pushing boundaries’ can be chalked up to any combat sports, bodybuilders definitely take the mantle on that aspect. And very few are more deserving than CBum himself.
