Long gone are those days when people acknowledged bodybuilding as a vanity project. Bodybuilders and fitness enthusiasts have long discredited the notion and legends such as Arnold Schwarzenegger‘s attempts at revolutionizing the sport called for a scientific lens to look at bodybuilding. At 75, the man who has been extremely influential in spreading awareness about fitness and good health throughout his life still stands as a testament to its benefits. Here’s how most young health and fitness enthusiasts can learn from Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Arnold Schwarzenegger was asked a question on Reddit, veiled as a compliment, by a fan. The question hinted at how, at his age, Schwarzenegger maintains a nearly impeccable physique. The Austrian gentleman expressed his gratitude and took this question in his newsletter.

The fan asked, “How do still maintain your physique at nearly 70 years old?”, to which Schwarzenegger replied, “I’m 75, so thank you, I might have to take this one in the newsletter now.” His newsletter titled The Pump Daily is aimed at helping others find a perfect and healthy life balance via wellness. Age takes a toll on everyone, but here’s how he overcomes them, one step at a time.

Schwarzenegger writes in his newsletter, “The main reason I keep up as much as I do is because of my relentless routine. There is no skipping workouts. There are no crappy days. It always happens, no matter what is going on, no matter how I feel. The other reason is that I’ve adapted my training. I’m realistic. I am not going to hit any records. I do my bike ride, and then I do machine circuits”. He also shared his current workout routine, which could make a few young people awestruck.

He continued, “I pick 5 or 6 exercises and I do 5 or 6 rounds with no rest beyond what it takes to move to the next machine. About 30 sets total. My reps are high, about 15-20 each set. By the end, I’m schvitzy. I’m not as strong as the young guys in the gym, but more than once when they’ve tried my workout, they’ve had to stop to catch their breath”. Such is his love and passion for a workout, even his ailing conditions couldn’t stop him.

Nothing can stop Arnold Schwarzenegger from working out

Schwarzenegger has had two heart surgeries in his lifetime. The first was during the filming of Batman & Robin and the next more than a decade later. However, the surgeries have not stopped him from going to the gym. In fact, even as he aged, he never compromised on his training.
