Ronnie Coleman‘s legacy in bodybuilding remains unmatched to date. But the Louisana-born former police officer-turned-bodybuilder had an interesting past with a rather interesting diet. Coleman, who defined the mass monster era in combination with symmetry, adhered to a strict diet throughout his bodybuilding days. But he did have a weakness for one of America’s most prized fast food. Coleman’s stint as a worker in a fast-food chain in the late 1980s was particularly instrumental in developing this habit.

In a recent interview with Derek Lunsford, Ronnie Coleman shared several anecdotes from his bodybuilding career. One question he always gets is about the diet he followed in those days. Coleman, who worked in Domino’s for 2 years, said there was a time he used to eat pizzas for dinner almost daily. He last ate one when he last competed in 2007.

“I worked at Domino’s for two years, and that was my dinner”, said Ronnie Coleman to Derek Lunsford. Coleman graduated in 1986 and worked at the global fast-food chain from 1986-1988. During these two years, he claims to have consumed a pizza almost daily. So now when the topic of pizza comes up, Coleman states, “I can’t even think about pink Dominoes pizza… completely burn myself out”.

Coleman shared that people often ask him what his diet is like. Lunsford agreed that he gets the same questions. Coleman stated that he used to indulge in a variety of food including quarter pounders with cheese from Mcdonald’s. In response to Lunsford hoping to share a bite with him during this Olympia, Coleman mentions that the last time he had a pizza was when he last competed.

When Lunsford pushes him as to what kind of pizza he likes, Coleman said, “I’m gonna be honest with you. My favorite pizza has always been Pizza Hut”. He then mentions his stint with Domino’s being the prime reason behind his change in the palate.

It would be a big deal for Coleman to eat a pizza again

While Coleman’s diet wasn’t that pizza-heavy after he started bodybuilding in 1989, he didn’t stop indulging in the delicious food till he retired. Ronnie Coleman last won Mr. Olympia in 2005, and it was his 8th straight win starting from 1998. But he retired in 2007, and since then hasn’t touched the beloved fast food. Coleman has also suffered some severe health risks including his kidneys that were affected by medications.

Coleman also underwent several surgeries but has since been in good shape and health. Whether the 8X Mr. Olympia winner will share a pizza with Lunsford or not, is to be seen, but a 16-year hiatus from indulging in such as food is a long time to get back in.
